This is a picture I found about a terrible practice of child labor. Many years ago, I visited a beedi
factory in my husband's hometown in Tamil Nadu (the word factory is misleading, it was just a
crowded dingy courtyard with many girls using their small fingers to roll up cut tobacco in tobacco
leaves, rolling up to 1000 a day)!
I was so naïve, and didn't protest this practice, I was just intrigued. Now I understand much more,
and I'm appalled at this case of child labor (and all cases of child labor across the globe), and am
working against it.
